NOx emissions in the oxy-fuel combustion of coal in a bubbling fluidized bed
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The oxy-fuel combustion belongs to the CCS technologies producing a stream of CO2 by using oxygen as an oxidant for the combustion process. Emissions of other pollutants are particularly important since these pollutants need to be removed prior to CO2 compression or utilization. This paper presents an experimental investigation of nitrogen oxides formation in the oxy-fuel 30kWth laboratory scale bubbling fluidized bed combustor and compares it with results obtained in the air combustion. The emissions were matched using a proper method suitable for both the air- and oxy-fuel oparation mode of the combustor. Series of experiments characterizing formation of NOx emissions at different operation conditions of the BFB combustor was made. The influence of temperature, oxygen excess and limestone addition were examined as the variable parameter while keeping unchanged fluidization regime in both modes. The oxy-fuel regime brought a significant reduction of the overall emissions of NOx compared to the air-firing.
