In the current scenario, sustainable materials have great importance. As a result, researches are conducting in various fields to investigate the properties of sustainable materials which can replace synthetic materials. Also, researchers are trying hard to modify these materials to enable them to use in diverse applications. But polymers are well known for their high flammability, as these materials have a great role in the field of the automobile industry and other appliances. Thus there comes the necessity to tailor their property for flame retardancy. This chapter deals with the development of flame retardant property of natural fiber reinforced polymer composites. Many researchers conducted studies regarding the enhancement of flame retardancy of natural fiber polymer composites. Various types of flame retardant additives were formulated and researchers conducted studies to incorporate these flame retardant additives to natural fiber reinforced polymer composites to enhance the fire resistance property of these composites. This chapter evaluates studies related to the development of natural fiber flame retardant polymer composites. This chapter analyses the studies about the effectiveness of the technique in studies regarding natural fiber reinforced flame retardant polymer composites.
