Measuring the color of paint coatings is one way of evaluating them. For thermochromic coatings, this measurement is determinative, from the measured differences it is possible to predict the remaining number of color transitions, thus the overall service life. In order to ensure sufficient readability of color changes between a temperature-unloaded (i.e. cold) and a temperature-loaded (heated) sample, it was necessary to determine the measurement methodology and the resulting boundary conditions for evaluation. In addition to the number of realizable transitions, the behavior of the coatings at maximum temperature load was also evaluated. The testing took place on three types of thermochromic paints (with different basic bases) prepared by two different types of high-speed stirrers.
