Paddle Agitator for Mixing of Viscoplastic Fluids and Pastes
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A new paddle mixer suitable for homogenisation of viscoplastic fluids and paste such as modern concrete mixture was developed to improve homogeneity of the product, which is vital for its mechanical properties. While mixing concentrated suspensions characterised by visco-plastic or pseudoplastic behaviour, there is a risk of non-existent flow in areas distant from the rotating mixing element caused by the low level of shear stress and associated high apparent viscosity. The paddle mixer design is aimed at achieving circulation throughout the whole volume and thus mitigating the problem of caverns and segregation caused by the effect of gravity. The performance of the paddle mixer was evaluated using homogenisation experiments at input power measurements at varying rotation speeds. The paddle mixer was tested and its geometry modified to achieve homogeneity throughout the whole volume.
