Blending and Suspension Characteristics of VISCO JET Impellers
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Visco Jet (R) impellers have been available for several years and are marketed as an alternative to other standard impeller types, such as pitched blade impellers, Rushton turbines, or hydrofoils. However, their performance has not yet been evaluated in the scientific literature. This article aims to address this gap by reviewing two basic Visco Jet (R) impeller types: the Classic and the Spiral. The impellers are characterised by dimensionless parameters, specifically, the Power number, dimensionless mixing time, and suspension power input. Their performance is evaluated based on dimensionless homogenisation energy and the dimensionless suspension power input in the just-suspended state. Measurements were carried out using methods described in the Handbook of Industrial Mixing. The results suggest that Visco Jet (R) impellers perform comparably to other standard impellers, particularly in the creeping flow regime. Their main advantages appear to be ease of use and reduced torque requirements.
