Shape optimization of inductors for preheating before laser welding and hardening
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
An auxiliary pre-heating inductor for laser edge welding is optimized with respect to two prescribed criteria. The first one is to reach the maximum possible temperature along the edge before the laser processing whose purpose is to prevent the surface layers of material from high temperature gradients during the heating by laser beam, which would lead to excessive residual mechanical stresses. The second one is to minimize the mass of the inductor in order to disburden the robotic hand that maintains the whole heating system. The task represents a strongly non-linear and non-stationary inverse problem. Its direct part (modeling of the continuous induction heating) is solved numerically in the monolithic formulation, while the inverse part (optimization) is processed using specific genetic algorithms. The computations are carried out by our own software. The methodology is illustrated by an example whose results are discussed.
