Optical Fiber Amplifier for Spectral Range 1650–2020 nm
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In this contribution, we present the development, experimental setups, and achieved results for a TDFA applicable over a broad spectral range from 1650 nm to 2020 nm. We demonstrate the construction of two fiber-optic assemblies. The first one, optimized for small-signal amplification in the spectral range 1820 nm - 2020 nm, uses as active medium a silica optical fiber doped with thulium ions, which is fabricated by a modified chemical vapor deposition technique extended by an innovative nanoparticle doping technique. In contrast, the assembly for amplification in the spectral range of 1650 nm - 1820 nm, based on optical fiber with a specially tailored internal waveguide structure, effectively suppresses guided modes at the longer wavelengths of the thulium emission and simultaneously promotes mode propagation at the shorter wavelengths. The source of the input signals is in-house built tunable fiber laser, whose tunability over the entire specified range is ensured by a suitably chosen active fiber along with diffraction grating in a Littrow arrangement usable for discrete wavelength selection.
