Each night, astronomical systems record a significant amount of image data and indicate a variety of meteor events. In recent years, specific phenomena of parallel meteor occurrences or even meteor clusters have also been reported. These phenomena are typically identified through a process of post-evaluation of meteor trajectories. However, astronomical systems usually do not focus so much on such phenomena, and thus automatic real-time identification or post-identification is rather rare. This presents an opportunity for the development of novel approaches to signal and identify candidate meteors that are related to each other (they have disintegrated from the same parental object). In light of this, we have proposed an approach to indicate these events in astronomical image sequences. The proposed method employs multiple meteor detection based on Probabilistic Hough Transform with further utilization of its output parameters. The detected events are evaluated according to their temporal sequence and proximity. Finally, the similarity of the detected events is evaluated in a specific feature space, where the parallelism and velocity of the detected events are evaluated. The results of this algorithm were tested on data of recent September epsilon Perseid (SPE) meteor showers recorded by the MAIA (Meteor Automatic Imager and Analyzer), and also on data of one simulated cluster.
