The presentation will discuss several topics from the network traffic monitoring area. There are many challenges affecting the direction of research and development. High-speed network technologies and encryption raise new demands on performance and visibility into the network infrastructure. The presentation will introduce open-source tools for monitoring and analysis that are developed for research purposes and practical deployment in the Czech academic environment. Besides the software tools that are a data source for security analysts, the current research activities target machine learning technology and datasets to overcome the lack of information about network connections.
