In this article, there are presented some of the findings obtained during the past nine years at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the Czech Technical University in Prague while teaching special courses on the history of mathematics and development of mathematical thinking. It is discussed the role of a teacher of mathematics and history of mathematics in the motivation and education at technical school.
