The company´s external environment in last years from an economic point of view can be expressed by one word: turbulent. The article focuses on European airlines problematics, with an emphasis on identifying the main factors affecting their business andprofit. Undoubtedly, one of the main factors is the oil. This article therefore deals with the development of oil prices and with implications for the transportation with special emphasis on air transport. There are also other significant environmental influences, such as expanding low-cost air transport model and finally significant change of air transport demand character. All these ffects are included in the article and illustrate the current state of passenger air transport.
