Supply chain security (SCS) is an intricate issue in today's globalized world. SCS is a systematic and continuous process to enhance prevention, protection, preparedness, monitoring, detection, mitigation, response, and recovery from disruptive criminaland terrorist activities and incidents in the supply chain. These aims can be reached by various organizational, procedural and technological approaches. The first part of this paper discusses SCS problems, which are solved in EU and US by different security programs. The common goal of these different security programs is minimization of risk of any disruption in the supply chain and maintenance of continuous goods flow worldwide. The second part of the paper emphasizes the problem of mutual recognition of SCS standards between EU and US. Compatibility is highly important because it simplifies customs procedures while unnecessary complexity does the opposite. The last part of this paper is focused on SCS general model.
