Echodentography Based on Nonlinear Time Reversal Tomography : Ultrasonic Nonlinear Signature Identification
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Ultrasound imaging of the teeth (echodentography) seems to have the potential to improve clinical assessment and consequently allow detection of initiated cracks within internal tooth structure[1]. However, ultrasound detection of dental cracks, completed with in-vivo localization and imaging has not been achieved. This paper examines possibilities of using Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS) methods in dental investigations. NEWS was developed within the NonDestructive Testing (NDT) applicationsfor crack detection, with advanced nonlinear signatures identification. The main task consisted in imaging cracks or other degradation signatures (e.g. enamel-dentine interface, cracks between internal tubules, etc.), located in dentin close to the Enamel-Dentine Junction (EDJ). NEWS approach was investigated experimentally with a new bi-modal acousto-optic set-up based on the chirp-coded nonlinear ultrasonic time reversal (TR) concepts.
