In the article I deal with the possibilities and tools of data modeling, enabling to better know modelled reality, their advantages and disadvantages. Flowchart diagrams, UML diagrams, the BORM, IDEF, BPMN and also EPC method allowing an analysis and modelling of in- formation systems from various aspects. They are being used not only to the developers mutual communication, but also to the communication with the clients.
