As the urbanisation of the environment is rapidly increasing we spend most of our time in an artificially created environment. Therefore, we should raise the issue of the quality of built space. The workshop will be focused on the following topics: How can we define and assess quality in residential architecture? Can quality be understood in relation to cultural heritage, local traditions or usage of local materials? Or is quality universal and equal over the world? Can local and global approaches in residential housing enrich each other? What are the key moments in the design process that influence the final outcome? Can we make the design process more creative to find new approaches to a given tasks and in this way enhance the quality of residentialarchitecture? How does the lived space correspond with the actual space that forms our cities? How does it happen that some housing estates become well used and others do not?
