System for automatic pressure control as an alternative to the infusion pressure cuff
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The administration of cooling water boluses or flushing of pressure chambers in health care is typically done manually by a controlled infusion pressure cuff. A rubber balloon is used to increase the pressure in the cuff space, which acts on the infusion bag with the required pressure. We aimed to improve and automate this operation. The objective of this work was to design and implement a prototype system that would allow the user to maintain a set pressure in the infusion pressure cuff while being able to detect that the infusion bag is running out of solution. Three solutions were proposed that use different mechanisms to pressurize the contents of the infusion bag. The selected solution involves the use of a torque stepper motor that compresses the infusion bag, thereby providing pressure to displace the solution. The proposed solution was implemented in the form of a prototype and laboratory tested. The result is a working prototype of a device that can maintain a user-set pressure in the infusion set with sufficient accuracy and is equipped with an alarm in case it runs out of solution.
