Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that harness data, algorithms, and computing power to create systems capable of sensing, processing, and solving complex problems. AI's strategic importance necessitates ethical development, particularly in Europe. The European Digital Strategy prioritizes "ethical, secure, and cutting-edge AI," emphasizing risk management and European values. To achieve this, the "Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI" provide crucial principles. However, current education, especially in engineering and robotics—key fields for AI development— largely focuses on technical aspects, neglecting ethical considerations. Recognizing this gap, we advocate for a multidisciplinary approach. Integrating ethical, social, and legal dimensions into engineering curricula will empower future developers to create AI systems that align with European values and contribute to societal well-being.
