The aim of this article is to demonstrate the complexity of the problem and to suggest a solution to complex processes of damage to steel structures, high-pressure pipes and pressure vessels at normal or slightly reduced temperatures. Particular processes have been dealt with individually, although they may interact in practical applications. Prescise calculations are not practicable, since there are random processes during the loading, and even during the response of material to the application of theload. This paper deals with experimental and theoretical investigations into stress corrosion effects on gas ducts.
