Resistance of concrete modified with styrene-acrylate based admixture to aggressive environment
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Article is describing results of an experimental program focused on development of concrete, resistant to impacts of low pH environment. To a very low pH (2-4) is concrete often exposed when used in agricultural production (for example for silage or hay silage pits). Therefore, its degradation with such a low pH is very fast. The experimental part of the work focused on modification of concrete with sealing admixture on the basis of styrene-acrylate. We prepared set of 3 concrete mixtures with different dosing of styrene-acrylate. We subsequently monitored resistance of these 3 mixtures and 1 reference mixture to a liquid aggressive environment with pH 2 and pH 3. Testing bodies prepared from these mixtures were set in the given environment for the period of 180 days and then tested. We used mechanical tests, pull-off tests and determination of depth of aggressive environment penetration in the concrete with help of SEM/EDS analysis. Polymer admixture had significant impact mainly on reduction of the depth of penetration of aggressive environment in the concrete. Positive impact of the admixture was however also noticed in resistance of concrete surface layers tested by pull-off tests. Generally, we can state that in dependence on the dose rate of polymer the concrete resistance to low pH increased.
