Construction and demolition waste (CDW) accounts for more than a third of total waste generation in the EU, yet recycling efficiency varies dramatically across member states. This study analyzes the environmental impacts of three end-of-life (EOL) scenarios using a single-family house case study: ranging from zero material recovery to an ambitious model of reuse and 90% recycling in alignment with the EU Taxonomy. The research is part of the European Indicate initiative, which establishes carbon footprint benchmarks across EU countries in response to the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). By comparing the impacts of demolition, recycling, and change of use, the study provides critical data for decision-making aligned with circular economy principles and helps shape future decarbonization policies for the European building sector.
