On Some Rheological Phenomena Occurring During Capillary Flow of Hard-Metal Carbide Powder Compounds
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The rheological investigation is of obvious importance in the understanding of moulding step of PIM technology, both with regards to the flow in the processing machinery and the proper mould filling. This work clarifies certain aspects of the flow properties of hard-metal carbide powder compounds. In order to obtain theoretical values of maximum loading levels of the powder over 15 model relations, often recommended in PIM literature, were tested on the rheological data of various hard-metal carbide powders and binder consisting of LDPE, paraffin, EAA (EVA) and polyethyleneglycol. It was shown that the applicability of these relations is moderate only, mainly due to the complex structure (irregular shape, broad particle size distribution) of the powders. A special attention was put on studying the flow instabilities occurring at high filling levels of the compounds. For this purpose the compounds containing 40, 45, 50 and 55 vol.% of powder were prepared. Carrying capillary rheometer e
