Melt Rheology and Crystallization Ability of Recycled PET Beverage Bottles
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Rheological characterization of melts from recycled PET bottles was performed. Samples were prepared from repeatedly processed pellets of recycled PET bottles and their blends also with virgin bottle grade PET granulate using the twin screw extruder. Thematerials resulted were measured on a rotational rheometer in the dynamic mode. The data of recycled PET (h*, G´, G´´) were compared with characteristics of virgin bottle-grade PET and the degree of degradation (decrease in molecular weight) was evaluated from dynamic and intrinsic viscosity decrease. The knowledge of this degradation enables to predict a possibility of multi-processing and further recycling or applications of the material. Glass transition (Tg) temperature, cold-crystallization, 1st melting and final crystallinity, crystallization in dynamic mode (linear decrease of temperature), 2nd melting and crystallinity of virgin bottle-grade and recycled PET were compared. Crystallinity was evaluated from the calorimetric and a
