OBJECTIVE It is well-known that inappropriate footwear could lead to development foot deformities and minor injuries. Due to the fact that there is a casual relation between diabetes and changes in the shape of the foot in adult diabetics, knowledge about foot shape in children with diabetes is highly important. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to define foot proportions in children and compare that with the proportions of the shoe. METHODS The feet of 132 children with diabetes type 1 (64 boysand 68 girls) aged 5 ? 18 years were measured using the PEDUS 3D foot scanner (Human Solution, Germany) in bipedal upright position. Data were analyzed using ScanWorX 2.8.5 SL1. Nine foot characteristics as: foot length (FL), foot length from the heel tothe I. metatarsophalangeal protrusion (MTT1) and to the V. metatarsophalangeal protrusion (MTT5), toe length (TL), foot width (FW), ball circumference (BG), big toe height (TH), hallux angel (1TA) and the fifth toe angel (5TA) were measu
