This study is aimed on the preparation of the star-like ZnO particles using hydrothermal microwave synthesis. Synthesized ZnO particles were characterized with SEM, XRD a EDS spectrometry. Prepared particles were supended in the silicone oil in differentweight concentrations in order to prepare novel electrorheological fluid. The rheological propertiew in the absence as well as in the presence of the external electric field were investigated. Formation of the electric field-induced internal structureswas perormed. Further, the dielectric properties of the supensions were examined and polarizability of the particles as well as relaxation time was obtained from fitting of these spectra with Havriliak-Negami model. Finnaly, the comparison of the electrorheological activity of the star-like particles and spherical ones was investigated
