High quality biodiesel and glycerin from acid waste fats
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
To date, the absolute majority of biodiesel in the EU is made from vegetable oil methyl esters. The high price of biodiesel (over double the price of diesel) mostly results from the high price of the feedstock. However, biodiesel can be made from other feedstocks, such as beef tallow, pork lard, yellow grease and tannery fats, which often represent an unpleasant waste. A disadvantage of the said feedstocks is that they may require additional processing to produce biodiesel of acceptable quality due to ahigh content of free fatty acids. For this reason, there is currently no commercially viable process for converting such animal residues into biofuel. This contribution deals with an innovative, cleaner and economically promising technology of biodieselproduction from low quality acid waste fats. The production of fatty acid methylesters from the above mentioned feedstocks consists of three steps. In the first step, the reduction of ash, moisture removal and partial reduction of free f
