Quantum information theory is using not only to make some of the calculation algorithm faster, but it is used in the security area too. In this area it is especially the application of quantum key distribution, sometimes called ?Quantum cryptography?. The main part of this paper deals with basic algorithms of quantum cryptography and its historical evolution. In the description of these methods, there is mentioned the simple process of its application. The second part of this work focuses on the description of the various solutions, which we could nowadays practically use.
