This article is focused on the safety of the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) which is used by all GSM/GPRS based devices. The IMEI is the unique identification number of each mobile device, and it should not be overwritten. By the IMEI number can be found or tracked lost the mobile device. The main goal of this article is to change the IMEI number which is saved on each device. Each company tries to protect the IMEI number by the software, However, no one considers the hardware way. The IMEI number can be changed by the direct connection to the external microcontroller using a command. In the first part, the IMEI is changed on the external device SIM 900 using the external microcontroller. In this case, the SIM 900 is connected directly to the external microcontroller by wires. In the second part, the IMEI is changed on the mobile device using an external microcontroller. The SIM 900 in the mobile phone is embedded into the main board, and it is much more complicated to get to the pins. This part includes the physical damage on the main board and soldering the new ones. All parts come with the figures, and the explanation and all parts of the commands which are used for the IMEI changing are explained. The AT mega 2560 the microcontroller was used in both situations as an external microcontroller. The experiment showed that using the hardware connection can be IMEI number changed.
