Novel PLA-Chitosan nanocomplexes for controlled and sustained release of DNA-Alkylating drugs
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In the last decades the controlled and sustained release of drugs, in particular anticancer, from polymeric nanoparticles has attracted many researchers, with the aim to improve their therapeutic efficacy, targeting and reduce side effects. Among the various natural and synthetic polymers used for preparation of polymeric drug delivery systems, chitosan (CS) gained great interest due to its properties such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, non-toxicity and non-immunogenicity. CS in mild acid aqueous solution is positively charged allowing the formation of delivery systems based only on electrostatic interactions, which give the opportunity to modulate the release of loaded drug by changing the environment conditions.
