A position of a sales representative belongs to the most frequently offered positions in the labour market. National Qualification Framework often defines it precisely. Despite that, requirements of individual companies regarding a suitable candidate differ. There is also a discrepancy between required competencies and perception by the public. The objective of the contribution is to summarise views from the application field, the National Qualification Framework as well as students studying economy andmanagement programmes at the VŠPJ (College of Polytechnics Jihlava) and answer a question whether the approached students consider this position suitable for the entry into the labour market.
