The quantity of healthcare waste is increasing in the Czech Republic, including the proportion of hazardous waste. Currently, in connection with the European Parliament and Council Directive EC No. 98/2008 on waste and the annulment of certain directives(the general waste directive) an amendment to the Waste Act is being prepared that shall govern overall and specific healthcare waste.
