The book focuses on the target group of foreign people interested in the history of Jewish settlement in Central Europe. Publication introduces Jewish cemeteries in South Bohemia based on documenting their current state and archival research. Content of the professional monograph deals with the specifics of their history, epigraphic analysis of the tombstone inscriptions, sepulchral symbolism and ornamental motifs. The core of the publication is formed by a catalogue of 41 localities with information about the origins of Jewish settlement, the establishment of the Jewish cemetery, an attempt at a microhistory of the representatives of Jewish families. The entries are supplemented by a variety of visual material.
