Urinary excretion of uranium in adult inhabitants of the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The main aim of this study was to determine and evaluate urinary excretion of uranium by general public of the Czech Republic. This value has to serve as a baseline for distinguishing possible increase in uranium content in population living near legacy site of uranium mining and processing and also to help to distinguish share of uranium content in urine of uranium miners resulting from inhaled dust. Geometric mean of concentration of uranium in urine in 74 inhabitants of the Czech Republic was found to be 7.4 ng/L with lower and upper bound on 95% confidence interval 5.7resp 9.6ng/L and for daily excretion 12.4ng/day with lower and upper bound on 95% confidence interval 9.5, resp.16.1ng/day. Significant difference in urinary excretion of uranium was found between individuals using as a source of drinking water public supply and private water wells. Age dependence of urinary excretion of uranium was not found. Mean values and their range are comparable to other countries, esp. Germany, Slovenia and USA.
