Detection of shape and surface changes of a municipal solid waste landfill from airborne laser scanning data
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Monitoring surface changes of municipal solid waste landfills is essential for sustainable planning in landfill management. LiDAR is a very effective device for detecting changes in elevation of various natural and anthropogenic objects. The high accuracy and easy interpretation of lidar data make it a powerful tool for mapping vertical structure over relatively large areas (aircraft) or in small targeted missions (unmanned aerial vehicles).nAirborne laser scanning data (FLIS, https://olc.czechglobe.cz/) were acquired for a municipal solid waste landfill in June 2021 and December 2021. Change detection analysis was performed in GIS using normalized digital surface models calculated from two datasets clouds of points. The result of the change analysis contained positive and negative pixel values demonstrating parts of the landfill with increasing waste deposition and parts of the landfill where settlement of the landfill body occurred over a period of 6 months.nThe change detection method can be used to analyze the volume of waste and the remaining volume of waste for a specific landfill.
