Classroom Management Strategies of Student Teachers and Experienced Teachers (Their Mentors) in Lower Secondary Education
Project goals
The project deals with classroom management strategies (CMS) of student teachers on their long term practice and CMS of experienced teachers (their mentors) in Czech lower secondary education (ISCED 2A). The aim is to contribute to the concept of CMS on theoretical and empirical level and to support its possible applications. Partial aims are: (1) to contribute to the development of the concept of CMS in the Czech educational discourse as evidence based on Czech data. (2) To identify how CMS and their conceptualisation of student teachers (pre-service teachers) and experienced teachers (their mentors) differ. 3) To contribute to the theory and applications of mixed methods design. 4) To contribute to the implementation of findings into curricula and education of student teachers, teachers, and mentors in the context of teacher professional development phases. 5) To contribute with the findings to the ongoing discussion in the Czech educational policy about Teacher Quality Standard. 6) To publish a monograph dealing with classroom management in a complex way and in the Czech context.

Projekt se zabývá strategiemi řízení třídy u studentů učitelství na dlouhodobé praxi a zkušených učitelů (jejich “cvičných učitelů”) na druhém stupni základní školy. Cílem projektu je přispět k rozvinutí konceptu strategií řízení třídy na teoretické a empirické úrovni a podpořit jeho možné praktické aplikace. Projekt má tyto dílčí cíle: 1) Přispět k rozvinutí konceptu strategií řízení třídy v českém pedagogickém diskursu a jeho založení na důkazech z výzkumu. 2) Identifikovat, jak se strategie řízení třídy a jejich konceptualizace liší u studentů učitelství (začínajících) a zkušených učitelů (jejich cvičných učitelů). 3) Přispět k rozvoji teorie a aplikací smíšeného výzkumu. 4) Přispět k aplikaci poznatků o strategiích řízení třídy v kontextu fází profesního vývoje učitele do kurikula a vzdělávání studentů učitelství, učitelů a mentorů. 5) Přispět poznatky z výzkumu k probíhající diskusi ve vzdělávací politice nad Standardem kvality profese učitele. 6) Vydat monografii komplexně pojímající řízení třídy v kontextu českého prostředí.

Project results evaluation
The project extends knowledge in the area of classroom management and also adapted several research texchniques to the Czech conditions. The results correspond with the project aims and can be used in future teacher training. Master's and doctoral students were involved in solving the project. Published outputs correspond with the aims of the project.
