Dry powder composite systems of stimuli-responsive polymers and 2D materials for pulmonary drug delivery

  • Annotation in Czech

Pulmonary diseases remain a leading global health burden, among the top 10 causes of death and contributing significantly to disability-adjusted life years. While treatments exist, their liquid formulations have limited shelf life and require refrigerated transport for stability, restricting access in remote regions. To address this challenge, we propose the development of Powder2Deliver, a scalable platform for redispersible solid formulations using drug-loaded polymer/hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) hybrid nanocomposites. This innovative approach combines microfluidic self-assembly with one-step spray-drying for efficient pulmonary drug delivery. The platform will design drug-loaded powders (e.g., core-shell, capsules, matrix spheres) responsive to inflammation and cancer (via ROS and pH triggers), optimized for stability and efficacy. This multidisciplinary project aims to create versatile long-lasting redispersible drug powders with tailored structures and broad compatibility.
