Core-excited resonances in electron-molecule collisions: dynamics and dissociation

  • Annotation in Czech

At the core of this proposal are core-excited resonances formed in electron-molecule collisions. One of the possible excitation channels in such collisions is the vertical electronic excitation. The excited electronic system may temporarily trap the electron and such resonance can lead to molecular dissociation via a process called dissociative electron attachment (DEA). We propose here a new experimental approach to probe the dynamics of this type of resonances. We will build a setup based on a trochoidal electron spectrometer which will allow for two-dimensional electron-energy-loss spectroscopy in the electronic excitation range. In combination with the existing experimental setups, mainly the DEA velocity map imaging, this will provide us with unprecedented detail about the dissociation dynamics. With this methodology, we will address a number of open questions which have recently appeared about core-excited resonances.
