Cooperative Approaches to Design of Nonlinear Filters

Project goals

The project is focused on the state estimation of nonlinear discrete-time stochastic dynamic systems. In particular, the stress is laid on the design of a general framework for a conceptually new cooperative approach to nonlinear filter design. This approach takes an advantage of a fusion of, in some sense, complementary properties of various nonlinear often approximate filters. The project analyzes four types of possible cooperative behavior of local filters (integration, monitoring, combination, and feedback) and develops respective algorithms. Using several cooperation types in filter design simultaneously leads to a cooperative global filter. Compared to the traditional filter design, which is rather competitive , the cooperative global filter will provide the estimates with generally higher estimate quality in terms of accuracy, credibility, and integrity.

    Projekt je věnován rozvoji metod odhadu stavu nelineárních stochastických dynamických systémů diskrétních v čase. Důraz je kladen zejména na návrh koncepčně nového přístupu k nelineární filtraci založeného na využití komplementárních vlastností různých nelineárních filtrů. V projektu budou analyzovány čtyři principiálně odlišné typy možné spolupráce lokálních filtrů (integrace, monitorování, spojování a zpětná vazba) a navrženy příslušné algoritmy. Současné uvažování více typů spolupráce povede k různým implementacím kooperativního globálního filtru. V porovnání se standardními filtry bude kooperativní globální filtr poskytovat lepší odhady stavu z hlediska přesnosti, důvěryhodnosti i integrity.

    Project fulfilled the declared goals and achieved several results in the area of nonlinear stochastic dynamic systems. The results were published as 7 articles in journals with impact factor, most of them of high quality. Several papers in conference proceedings were published as well, some of them of high quality conferences. Some of the results were awarded.
