    Methodology is presented and results are described of drawing up requests for granting integrated permission and subsequent regional office decisions for brewing and malting installations. On the basis of this documentation a reference document (BREF) listing the best available techniques of the industry has been proposed. In addition to emission source values and their limits, the consumption of thermal and electric energy for the production of beer and malt was given and total energy consumption per unit of production was calculated; similarly water consumption was assessed as a basis for the evaluation of technologies conforming to BAT.
