Applications of Capillary Electrophoresis in Enzyme Assays
Original language description
In this work, we present several applications that manifest the potential of capillary electrophoresis in enzyme assays. Capillary electrophoresis was employed to perform offline and online assays of beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase for three different substrates. Offline assays were successfully utilized to monitor the enzyme reaction and to determine parameters such as pH and temperature optimum. The offline assay was also used to compare activities of the enzyme towards the natural and chromogenic substrates. Finally, an online enzyme assay was developed and proved to be highly beneficial for inhibitor screening.
