The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into higher education is reshaping teaching and learning, with AI increasingly being embedded into learning management systems such as Moodle. This paper examines how professors at Czech and German business universities, all of which used Moodle as their primary LMS, perceive and adopt AI for generating quizzes, assignments, case studies, and formative feedback. Based on 13 semi-structured interviews (seven Czech, six German; five females and eight males), thematic analysis identified three core themes: (1) practical benefits linked to efficiency and scalability, (2) ethical concerns regarding transparency, accuracy, and student trust, and (3) pedagogical orientations that diverge between a Purpose-driven approach and a Maximization mindset (Holman, Švejdarová 2024). These findings are interpreted alongside current scholarship on AI in education, ethics, and preparation for a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world, emphasizing that sustainable AI adoption must align with educational values and human-centered pedagogy, not only technical optimization. The paper concludes with implications for policy and practice, and outlines limitations and future research directions.
