Design of magnetoactive soft gripper using a genetic algorithm
Original language description
This work presents an approach for designing magnetoactive soft grippers using a simplified magnetomechanical model combined with a genetic algorithm. The studied gripper is a beamlike structure composed of two connected segments made of hard-magnetic elastomer. The proposed method enables fast design of such soft grippers, including their magnetization patterns and magnetic actuation, to achieve desired deformations under static magnetic fields. Compared to full multiphysics simulations, the framework significantly reduces computational time while maintaining good accuracy for predicting the deformation of the soft gripper, making it suitable for rapid prototyping and design exploration of soft magnetic robots.
