Computational analysis of dynamic behaviour of inverted pendulum attached using fibres

  • Original language description

Cables, wires and fibres can be advantageously used in the design of many machines. One of the most interesting applications is the replacement of the chosen rigid elements of a manipulator or a mechanism with cables. A simple inverted pendulum attachedto a frame by two fibres serves as a testing system for the investigation of the influence of fibres properties on the system dynamic response. The motion of the pendulum of this nonlinear system is investigated using an in-house software created in theMATLAB system and using the alaska simulation tool. Two types of fibremodels are considered?a masslessmodel and a point-mass model. The equation ofmotion based on themassless approach is studied in terms of solution existence and its uniqueness. Dynamicquantities are numerically investigated in dependence on the excitation frequency including the investigation of the possibilities of the possible pendulum unstable behaviour.
