The spatially selective actuation of a compact and scalable linear electromagnetic actuator is presented. Notable features of the actuator include ease of deployment due to low manufacturing demands, open-loop control, low weight and inertia as well as material resistance and durability. The paper discusses the basic design, types of control, results of the mathematical model, and first experimental verification of the parallel positioning.
