Original language description
This paper introduces RexTuner a new software tool for automatic PID controller tuning in SIMATIC S7-1200 and S7-1500 automation systems. Based on the moment-based autotuner PIDMAX from the REXYGEN control system, RexTuner supports tuning for PID_Compact, PID_3Step, and PID_Temp controllers. The paper describes the key requirements for using RexTuner including its integration with PLCs, necessary control scheme modifications, and available tuning modes. A case study on PID_Compact controller tuning demonstrates its practical application. Experimental results compare RexTuner with Siemens' built-in autotuner, showing better control performance and stability. This approach simplifies the tuning process while improving robustness and efficiency in industrial automation.
