Novices' and trainee teachers' perspectives on the application of knowledge in practice
Original language description
The paper focuses on two areas. Firstly, it presents the preliminary results of an international Czech and Slovak research study focused on novice teachers and their perception of higher education training, their readiness for teaching practice, as wellas on the identification of problem areas novices are facing. Then, it presents the opinions of student teachers regarding their teaching practice during their university studies and on their simultaneous application of theoretical knowledge in practice. It also shows the link between the evaluation of practice and the impact of educators of future teachers upon them. The results show that students are very well equipped theoretically, but they have problems in applying this knowledge when managing andfinding solutions to stressful situations. Practice is highly regarded by both groups of respondents, but the question is whether they are able to take advantage of practical experience and reflect it properly.
