3D Laser Scanning System for Experimental Autonomous Robot
Original language description
This article deals with the design and architecture of our three-dimensional (3D) laser scanning system and reconstruction process of surrounding environment of our experimental autonomous robot serving to demonstrate and verify the principles and algorithms of autonomous motion in a real terrain. Environment scanning is conducted via a laser scanning device which is able to measure distances from objects within the range of 360° in one plane with high resolution. The article presents the basic architecture of our system extending 2D scanning in a plane into 3D scanning in space using our original hardware equipment. The article also contains several examples and results obtained from application of the system in a real terrain. The aim of this systemis to implement autonomous motion of our experimental robot into the fully 3D real environment.
