Barley varieties registered in the Czech Republic in 2009

In 2009 following malting varieties of spring barley were registered in the Czech Republic: Advent, Henley, Henrike, Signora, Streif, and Vista. The winter barley malting variety Wintmalt was also registered. Extract content lower than 82.0 % was determined only in the varieties Vista and Wintmalt. Only the variety Henrike had high level of proteolytic modification. Proteolytic modification in the other varieties was very good to optimal. Amylolytic and cytolytic modification in all varieties was on theoptimal level. Higher beta-glucan content was only in the varieties Advent and Streif. The variety Advent was recommended by the RIBM for the production of Czech Beer. The variety Wintmalt enlarged the possibility to acquire a quality malting material for winter barley. In addition, nonmalting spring barley variety Kontiki and nonmalting variety of hulless spring barley AF Lucius were registered. In 2009 four nonmalting varieties of winter barley were registered.

Czech description

V České republice byly v roce 2009 registrovány sladovnické odrůdy jarního ječmene Advent, Henley, Henrike, Signora, Streif a Vista. Byla také registrována sladovnická odrůda ozimého ječmene Wintmalt. Obsah extraktu nižší než 82,0 % byl pouze u odrůd Vista a Wintmalt. Pouze odrůda Henrike se vyznačovala vysokou úrovní proteolytického rozluštění. U ostatních odrůd bylo proteolytické rozluštění velmi dobré až optimální. Amylolytické a cytolytické rozluštění bylo u všech odrůd na optimální úrovni. Vyšší obsah beta-glukanů byl pouze u odrůd Advent a Streif. Odrůdu Advent doporučil VÚPS pro výrobu Českého piva. Odrůda Wintmalt rozšířila možnost získat kvalitní sladovnickou surovinu i na ozimý ječmen. Dále byla registrována nesladovnická odrůda jarního ječmene Kontiki a nesladovnická odrůda bezpluchého jarního ječmene AF Lucius. V roce 2009 byly také registrovány čtyři nesladovnické odrůdy ozimého ječmene.
