The consequences of employee turnover are one of the crucial problems that affect organisations? efficiency. An awareness of causes and consequences of turnover is necessary in order to ensure a competitive advantage in today?s knowledge economy. On thebasis of an analysis, the article deduces the main factors causing employee turnover that in turn lead to the loss of knowledge. Using the outcomes of primary surveys, the article deals with the impact of employees? leaving on their organisations. The article describes the differences in effects between small and large organisations in terms of turnover and the subsequent interruption of knowledge transfer. The objective is to compare statistically provable causes of employees? leaving organisations andto ensure knowledge continuity in small and large organisations.
