Incorporating practitioners? expectations to Project Management teaching
Original language description
The paper deals with criticalness aspects of project activities and expectation analysis towards them. The aspects identification in the paper proceeds from a project imperative and the cone of uncertainty. Using a questionnaire survey, the paper compares expectation of experienced practitioners, i.e. experts from practice, and professionally educated laymen, students (at two levels of education). Project managers? expectation plays a significant role during project preparation and planning. On the other hand, students acquire expectation towards weak spots of a project already during their studies. Obtained data in the paper show a shift in expectation during professional growth. Determining project activities criticalness and thus identifying weak spots in the project belongs among top tasks of project managers. The results of the paper reveal a positive impact of deeper theoretical preparation on more pragmatic expectation during project management.
