The influence of genistein and genistin on the meiotic maturation of pig oocytes
Original language description
Phytoestrogens are natural plant substances structurally similar to endogenous estrogens. Genistein is the main phytoestrogen in soya. There are evidences it can affect meiotic maturation of pig oocytes. These effects are attributed to genistein abilityto inhibit tyrozin protein kinase activity. Genistin is an analog of genistein. It has also estrogenic activity but it lack the inhibitory activity for the tyrozin protein kinase. The aim of our study was to verify genistein and genistin effects on meiotic maturation of pig oocytes and to determine, if they are caused by tyrozin protein kinase inhibition or due to an estrogenic activity. Three experiments were performed: 1. Oocytes were cultivated for 24 hours in various concentration of genistein. 2. Oocytes were cultivated for 24 hours in medium with 80 ?g/ml of genistein, then washed and cultivated for another 24 hours in genistein free medium. 3. Oocytes were cultivated for 24 hours in various concentration of genistin. Genistein in
